What appears as a large, terrifying life form is actually loads of tiny, terrifying life forms connected to each other telepathically. These spherical beings are known for conquering entire galaxies due to their sheer strength in numbers and incredible shapeshifting abilities. Before dominating a planet, these miniscule balls of destruction are kind enough to wager its future should anyone wish to challenge them first.
Being drawn to a powerful energy radiating from the Surface in hope that it would finally be a worthy contender, Solar Mass descended upon the world and declared their ultimatum, should anyone rise up to the challenge.
In this particular challenger’s corner were the Keepers, guardians of the Surface. One by one they were literally swatted like flies until the only member left standing was Candy Steelfleece, a similar shapeshifter who could contort her body to counter all of Solar Mass’s attacks.
What began as the most spectacular scuffle of the century soon turned into a test of endurance as the battle spanned over days to weeks to months. During Christmas, the sight of two, gigantic monsters fighting on Massive Metropolis’s waterfront became nothing more than a tourist attraction. Finally, in spring, the spheres that made up Solar Mass ran out of batteries, and collapsed into the river. The monument they left behind became a testament to the most boring battle the Surface had ever seen.
A missing page of the Diurnal Drive, which many believe lead Solar Mass to the Surface in the first place, was found by a local fisherman the next day. As for Candy? She refuses to get out of bed until the next Seeker attack.
